An interview with the lovely and amazingly talented Chef Mackenzie Hilton of The Tavern

From Philly to Food Network’s Chopped kitchen to California and back, Chef Mackenzie Hilton has gained a great deal of experience over the years. Rising up the ranks quickly at Mercato (1216 Spruce St.), her early success and status as Chopped champion gave her the opportunity to take her talents to the West Coast.

However, the City of Brotherly Love had her heart and she returned to take over the kitchen at The Tavern (243 S. Camac St.). The subterranean late-night spot beneath the well-known Tavern on Camac in the Gayborhood is still in its infancy, but has a lot of potential with Hilton at the helm. It’s not always easy, but it’s a project that the Florida native has taken on with full confidence and is determined to succeed.
